Tips

From njducki:

The beginning of spring is a good time to change the batteries in your smoke, carbon monoxide testers and to give all a test to make sure they’re functioning properly. Also it’s a great time to clean out the lint build up in the dryer exhaust line. As for the lawns and garden areas, now is a good time to aerate the soil while the ground is soft from rain and snow melt off. Weed early for pre-emergent weeds. Turn over garden beds and mix in chopped up garden waste and compost to ready soil for planting. Also check the exterior of your home for any winter damage that may have occurred such as siding failure, wood rot on sill plate and around windows and doors, clean out gutters from fall debris so spring rains can flow thru easily. If you’re into water conservation, collect rain water right from your downspout into a barrel you can fit with spigot or purchase complete. Also consider using soaker hoses for your flower/vegetable beds. It’s much more effective and

economical.
